My early weekday mornings usually consist of either a protein and fruit packed smoothie, or a big bowl of hearty cereal. However, on the weekends I love to treat myself to something a bit more decadent, like some sweet and delicious homemade pancakes.
Warm and fluffy pancakes topped with peanut butter, sliced banana’s and blueberries, along with a drizzle of pure maple syrup is truly A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The only downside to my weekend breakfast treat is that I don’t always have all of the pancake ingredients on hand. Which is why I was looking to create an easy limited staple ingredient pancake recipe, that also happens to be healthy.
As lets face it, not all pancake recipes happen to be that healthy.
The ingredients in these Healthy 4-Ingredient Banana Pancakes is simple. They contain vitamin C and potassium rich banana’s, along with high protein eggs, and fiber rich oats. The last ingredient happens to be baking powder, which is used to help the pancakes rise.
If your looking for some additional flavour, feel free to add some cinnamon, however they taste pretty darn good on their own.
As an added bonus, these Healthy 4-Ingredient Banana Pancakes also happen to be gluten free, low FODMAP, and low in fat, while being a good source of fiber.
To make these delicious Healthy 4-Ingredient Banana Pancakes, firstly combine all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth.
This should take about 2-3 minutes, then let stand for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile spray a grill pan or a non-stick frying pan with cooking spray and heat to medium. Use a spoon to heaping spoonfuls of pancake batter onto pan, flipping when lightly brown and bubbles appear on top.
This should take about 2-3 minutes. Cook until both sides are lightly brown.
Remove from heat and keep warm prior to serving. Before eating, feel free to add your toppings of choice such as sliced fresh fruit, peanut butter or no-sugar added jam, along with a drizzle of pure maple syrup. Enjoy!

- 2 Bananas
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup large flake oats, certified gluten free
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- In a food processor, combine bananas, eggs, oats, and baking powder and pulse until smooth. Let stand for 10 minutes.
- Heat a grill pan or non-stick frying pan over medium heat and spray with cooking spray.
- Place heaping spoonfuls of batter onto the pan and cook until lightly brown or a couple bubbles appear in the batter, then flip and cook on other side until lightly brown. Repeat with remaining batter.
- Serve warm topped with fruit, syrup, peanut butter, or whatever else your heart desires.
