However, by substituting frozen banana’s instead of regular dairy ice-cream, the result is a savory treat with less fat and calories. This is perfect treat for any weight loss or nutrition plan.

This recipe is super quick and uses only three main ingredients: banana’s, almond butter, and unsweetened chocolate chips. Along with being low in fat and calories, this “Ice-Cream” recipe is also jam packed with nutrition.

Banana’s contain fiber, carbohydrates, and an abundance of different vitamins and minerals.  The almonds from the almond butter are an excellent source of vitamin E, and contain mono-unsaturated fatty acids, also called the “healthy fats,” which lower our risk for heart disease.

To make this recipe vegan and dairy free, use chocolate chips that are vegan.

Guilt Free Banana Ice-cream

For best results, ensure that the banana’s have been in the freezer for at least 24 hours, or until they are frozen solid.

To make the delicious Guilt Free Banana “Ice-cream”. Using a knife, peel the frozen banana’s and place them in a food processor. It may be more efficient to cut the banana into smaller pieces before peeling with a knife.

Add the chocolate chips and almond butter.

Pulse until smooth, about 1-3 minutes. The banana “Ice cream” may appear somewhat gritty at first. Continue to pulse until it is a smooth texture as the frozen banana’s will begin to melt quickly.

Once the banana “Ice Cream” is smooth serve immediately, or place back in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes for that extra “Ice Cream” texture.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium bananas, frozen and peeled
  • 1 tbsp natural almond butter
  • 1 tbsp semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in food processor, pulse until smooth. For extra "ice cream" texture, place back into freezer for 20-30 minutes after blending, then remove and serve.
